Do You Know Your HIV Status?
The one way you can personally stop the spread of HIV/AIDS is
to know your own status.
Yes, it can be frightening to consider the possibility that you may be at risk for having been infected, but
the consequences of not knowing can be far worse. Have you had unprotected sex any time in the past 20 years?
Have you ever shared an IV needle? It's easy to convince ourselves that only "they"
are at risk, but the reality is just the opposite. We can stop the spread of HIV, but only with information.
HIV/HCV Resource Center offers free and anonymous HIV testing. HIV/HCV Resource Center uses two types of HIV tests:
- OraSure© test: A trained staff member takes a saliva sample from inside your cheek and ACoRN receives the test results back within two weeks.
- NEW OraQuick© test: New since October 2008, a trained staff member takes a saliva sample from inside your cheek and is able to give you your test results back within 20 minutes!
It's simple, easy, non-invasive, anonymous, confidential, quick, and free.
HIV/HCV Resource Center also offers free and anonymous Hepatitis C testing.
If you have any reason to believe you may have been exposed to HIV or Hepatitis C, please
consider being tested. Don't take chances with your own health and don't take the chance of unintentionally
passing the virus on to someone else. Together, we can all help stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C.
Just contact the HIV/HCV Resource Center office for more information or a testing appointment. If you would prefer, a staff member can
even come to you.
